WAKE UP CALL!

Lately, I have been trying to get my home in order so that when the military (well.... housing more specifically) decides to spring "Hey, we have a 5 bedroom available.... you want it?  Great, you have two weeks to move" scenario, I am ready to roll!  In trying to "clean sweep" my house (not completely there yet of course) and I have seriously contemplated tossing the BINS of pre-pregnancy clothes I have.  That may shock some of you that I technically have that many clothes since I mostly wear t-shirts and jeans.  By t-shirts I mean very BASIC, possibly 10 year old ones.  Yeah.... bad, I know.  So, I am looking for a "make-over".  I will be a mother to 4 children soon (hopefully really soon) and it's about time I swallow my age (almost 27) and start dressing like a mother.  No... "mother" isn't supposed to be read, "frumpy".  I am going for a feminine look with a sense of basic style (I am no fashion guru) that makes me look presentable and nice.  Here's the kicker.... I need some help from you who peruse my blog on occasion.  Where do you buy your clothes?  What are your favorite stores for sales (shoes, clothes, bags, etc)?   As I lose this weight after baby (and I WILL lose the weight this time around) I want to have some things to look forward to and get excited about.  Bye bye scruffy teenager sports shirts, hello decent looking mother of four!

H&M has great jeans that are very cost effective. :) for easy tops that are classic, I normally buy LandsEnd Tanks at the end of season sale when they are 75% off and free shipping!
JillGG's goodlifeforless blog (i follow her) is really great for styling ideas for a mama on the go.
rue 21 is really good for accessories (scarves, bracelets, jewelry)
target is awesome for layering pieces (Again - I always go end of season when it is on clearance!)

I find that to be the most-fun motivator to losing the baby weight! New clothes! (Finally!!!!) Now that I'm 29 and have 4 kids - I finally know what style I am. so it is great fun to piece it together.

Good luck!

I mentioned the Pleated Poppy on facebook. I also love to watch What Not to Wear on Tuesday nights at 9:00 on TLC.

One of my favorite local stores is Cato. It's down Little Creek by the Kool Kids dentistry and Fabric Hut. They have inexpensive (not super duper high quality but still...) jewelry, shoes and handbags as well as lots of really cute clothes. Plus, I like the way the store smells. he he he

As a mom always trying to save a buck, I second Target clearance. They almost always have cute things on the racks in the back. That being said it may take you a few season to really collect a wardrobe for summer and fall. I pretty much came to the same conclusion as you last year - I have to buy "real" clothes :) Also - accessories can make an outfit! You can (and should) buy them cheap! Even Claire's at the mall has cute earrings and necklaces. Most importantly HAVE FUN!

I have found that Old Navy has a lot of good cute clothes. Cute dresses, shirts, etc. And they almost always have tons of stuff on clearance. Especially at the end of season.
